First five years of conservation

14th February 2017

5 years on from  the start of our successful partnership with The Bilton Conservation Group , The Grove Academy  continues to train the  conservationists of the future.

Year 11 Land-based Studies students ,Josh and Tom, have been busy at the Willow Wood crossroads building a motorcycle barrier, following a  spate of intrusions onto Bilton Fields, in Nidd Gorge, by off- road motorbikes.

The lads have been getting to grips with barrows, spits, pickaxes , mallets and the fine art of the spirit level, to produce a structure to be proud of.

Thanks to Sam Walker, the Harrogate Borough Council Countryside Ranger,  for supplying the materials and the BCG for their support over the last 5 years.
