Macmillan Coffee Morning and Jeans for Genes

4th October 2017

The Grove Academy started its annual round of fund raising on Friday 29th September by joining in the biggest coffee morning in the world – the Macmillan Cancer Care Fund Raising Coffee Morning. Staff and pupils baked cakes and other goodies, which were served in the library (heavily disguised as a bijou bistro). Parents and other visitors were welcomed and took the opportunity to see their children’s work as well as enjoy the refreshments. All proceeds from this went to Macmillan Cancer Care.

TGA combined this event with raising money for the Jeans for Genes charity, which funds genetic research and support for children who have life limiting or life changing conditions due to their genetic make- up. Staff and pupils wore jeans for the day and paid £1 for the privilege.

We ended the day with an assembly about both charities and why we were raising money for them and thanked Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Wilkinson, along with Kayleigh and Ryan, for their hard work in preparing for the day and ensuring that it ran smoothly.
