KS3 Felt Workshop at Fountains Abbey 2017

15th November 2017

On a misty morning in mid-October, Ellie, the Ethan’s and Harrison met Emma for a serious art work out.

Having studied the impressionist artist Monet, the pupils were armed with their chalk pastel drawings in the smudgy style of the great master.  It was to be his waterlilies that were going to be transported into felts.

Rapidly, the four pupils were fully engaged, layering, colour blending and finally the challenging, exhausting process of the irreversible change!  A thousand rolls to make the felt.  It was all worthwhile.  Four amazing felts were produced, resembling their initial drawings.

Well done to all the pupils and a special thanks to Emma and Rowena for another great workshop.
